Stitch Fix Box #4 - November 2015

I can't believe it's been a month already but it has and that means it's time for another Stitch Fix box! Per usual, if you aren't familiar with Stitch Fix, check out my Stitch Fix Primer post. This month I won't make you wait thru a big long dissertation (that you likely won't read anyway) and we will just get straight to the fun!  As you can see from the teaser photo below my stylist, Jen,  sent lots of fall colors and textures.  I am uncertain about the poncho, so please, leave a comment and help me figure out if I need to request another size from customer service...

With the weather turning much cooler here in Chicagoland, I've been wishing for some warmer clothes.  I had this in mind when I sent the above note to Jen. As usual, Jen knocked it out of the park - but I *am* a little iffy on a couple of pieces. Feedback is always welcome. Just a couple of disclaimers: Hubby has been sick and also tore a tendon in his knee. He has been laid up in the bed all week. Between not wanting to disturb him and having crappy lighting (it's grey and rainy and has been for days) I was just NOT in the mood to put together outfits, do a fashion show or even do the make up and hair thing.  So...outfits are half-assed and the pics are not much better. You'll just have to deal.

41 Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse

I love anything that matches my green Chucks.  I could just stop there because that really is explanation enough, but anyone that knows me knows that I am WAY wordier than one sentence.  :)  So, yeah, this blouse is fun.  It's a thinner material that is flowy and very comfortable.  The cut and style is very similar to a garnet colored top that I got last fix.  I usually do not tuck tops in at all, but this one actually works both tucked and untucked.  The sleeves can be rolled up and buttoned up with a little tab, but I never did that, because I actually like the length when they are unrolled.  I think my favorite aspect of this piece besides the color is the neckline.  I love the way it's cut.  It's very flattering and feminine.   I really like that I can wear it both casually with jeans and Chucks, but I can also dress it up with heels and a skirt for work.  Over all, I can't find anything I would consider a con with this blouse.  

Market and Spruce Bernadette Lace Overlay Raglan Top

I got the "your box has shipped" email, so I went and peeked to see what was coming. When I saw this top, I was not enthused.  Actually, I cringed. My first thought was "ugly." I don't like the shade of blue.  It's much more casual than what I need. To put it mildly, I hated it. When my box arrived, I followed the rules.  I took everything out of the wrapping paper, checked it out and tried it on. Yeah. I'm wearing this top as I type this.  It is SO soft. The sleeves are so comfortable. I like how it's got mixed materials on the front vs the back. The cut is flattering on me. I love it with my disgusting, ratty, beat up boyfriend jeans that probably should never see public again (but I refuse to get rid of because they are my favorite)  I also like it with my long pearls - totally fun to mix a boyish style (raglan) with a feminine style (pearls) In looking at the photos, I'm not as big of a fan of it with khaki cords, but are those not the cutest combat boots?

RD Style Calandri Contrast Sleeve Poncho

Interestingly,  Jen mentioned that she took inspiration from my Pinterest board when she sent this. Why is that interesting? Because the photo that she was referring to actually had a caption that said "I am not a fan of the poncho style, but I like everything else about this outfit." This is the one piece I am struggling with the most.  I know it's supposed to be oversized but does it look TOO oversized?  Now that I have tried a poncho sweater on, I actually think I would wear it.  If done right, the style has a certain level of sophistication that I can appreciate.  Please, help me figure out, do I need to request an xs?  (It looks cute with my hat, though, right?  lol)

Kut from the Kloth Callie Denim Jacket

I've been asking for a denim jacket since box 1. It finally came. I was hoping for a lighter wash, but I am certain that if I wash this one a couple of times, it will fade. It's cut close to the body and it is flattering for me.  It's very soft and it has a good bit of stretch - which I really like. I tried it on with my fit and flare LBD from Kate Spade and some red peep toes and it was also cute. It will be cuter once I get a little fade on it.  Yes, I have cowboy boots.  Yes, I realize that it is a little odd for me to have cowboy boots.  No, you can't borrow them.

Hailey 23 Ellyn Dress

THE UNICORN! I am totally and completely over the moon excited that I got this dress. Such a cute idea. I usually don't like form fitting dresses because they show off every lump and bump that I am always trying to hide.  In this particular case, the dress is form fitting, but the little backwards cover up cardigan thingie HIDES the lumps and bumps that I want hidden.  It stretches, but it's not tight so it's super comfortable.  The only negative I can find is that the skirt is a little short, but not enough to be inappropriate.  

So there you have it.  Another month, another box.  Jen is still a rockstar and it's likely another 5/5 box (do I need to size down the poncho?!)
