Stitch Fix Box #5 - December 2015

It's time for another Stitch Fix box! Per usual, if you aren't familiar with Stitch Fix, check out my Stitch Fix Primer post. If you have visited my bog in the past you might notice a change.  So, I'll just get this out of the way up front.

I love it.  It's very different from what I usually do with my hair. The color didn't do what I expected, but that is okay.  This way is a lot more subtle.  :)  Now that we have that out of the way, let us dive into why we are really here...  the Fix!

My Promise to my Stylist...

My promise as a Stitch Fix customer:  (based on what I have seen elsewhere)

- The word "cozy" will never be used (or overused) on my blog, or in my notes to my stylist. It has been ruined for me by the Stitch Fix blogging army. No offense if you use(d) it. I'll pull out a thesaurus before I resort to such an overused, cliche word.  To me, it no longer has meaning. It has become the pumpkin latte of words to describe cool weather fashion. Just... No.

- I also will never say "I'm just not reaching for it" if I am trying to sell an item in one of the Facebook groups. Again, I prefer to use my own words instead of some trite, worn out phrase.

- I will not keep items I hate just for the sake of a discount.  I will not tell the algorithm that I like something that I do not because I understand that is a surefire way to get items exactly like it in the future.

- I WILL always be appreciative of the work my stylist puts into choosing pieces for me.  They will not always be spot on because she doesn't actually know me, my style or my personality and it is unrealistic to expect perfection.

- I will always be honest in my feedback both on my blog and privately to Stitch Fix. Being honest does not mean "be a bitch" about it though.  My feedback will always be polite, constructive and respectful.  This is likely the snottiest post I'll ever make regarding Stitch Fix. I've seen some really rude stuff from other bloggers with regards to stylists, clothing and the company in general.  If you don't like something, okay.  But to demean it and make public posts that might make another person that DOES like the item feel like shit for it, is immature and catty.  meow.  #keepitclassy

Stitch Fix Box #4 - November 2015

I can't believe it's been a month already but it has and that means it's time for another Stitch Fix box! Per usual, if you aren't familiar with Stitch Fix, check out my Stitch Fix Primer post. This month I won't make you wait thru a big long dissertation (that you likely won't read anyway) and we will just get straight to the fun!  As you can see from the teaser photo below my stylist, Jen,  sent lots of fall colors and textures.  I am uncertain about the poncho, so please, leave a comment and help me figure out if I need to request another size from customer service...

Stitch Fix Box #3 - October 2015

It's Stitch Fix time again!  I really am having a ton of fun with this service.  It's making me take a long hard look at clothes.  My closet has shrunk dramatically despite having a bunch of new clothes.  When I decide if I want (or want to keep) an article of clothing, I ask myself a couple of questions:

1. Does it fit PROPERLY?   Items that are too snug, too big or otherwise ill fitting have no home in my closet.

2. Does it serve a purpose?  Any item that can't be worn with multiple other pieces is taking up too much room.  I no longer keep that blouse that looks good with that one single skirt.

3. Does it make me feel fabulous?  No?  Bye-bye!

4. Is it trendy or classic?  An ultra trendy piece that will go out of style before I can wear it more than twice is not something I want around.  I am building a collection of classic styles that can stick around for multiple seasons.

Stitch Fix Box #2 - September 2015

Do you know what Snoopy dancing signifies?  My second try at getting some phat lewts from a Stitch Fix box is here!  YAY! The day the box shipped, I peeked.  I couldn't help it.  I was so excited; I wanted to know what was coming.  I have been bouncing off the walls since. Based solely on what I could tell from just the names of the pieces included in the box, I had very high hopes!  Firstly, there was one garment that I couldn't find a whole lot of info on - which is sort of exciting.  That means that it hasn't been sent out all over the blogosphere yet. Secondly, two pieces could come in several different colors so even though I knew what kind of clothing was coming, there was still an element of surprise in that I had no idea what color I would get!  The other two pieces were items that I had pinned on my SF Pinterest board.  All 5 items fit exactly what I had asked for!!  That, in and of itself, is pretty significant being that this is only my second Fix!  The potential for a 5 out of 5 box was real!!  Was it a home run?!  Find out after the jump!!

Stitch Fix Box #1 - August 2015

I received my first Stitch Fix box! yay!  If you don't know what Stitch Fix is, I gave a quick run down in this Stitch Fix - A Primer post. Check it out, and if you have any questions that I didn't answer there, just drop a comment below and I'll do my best to answer. Basically, in each box, there is a note from your stylist, 5 pieces of clothing, a style card for each piece to give you ideas on how to wear it and a pre-paid return envelope for you to return any of the pieces that you do not want to purchase. Everything comes neatly wrapped in tissue paper inside of a sturdy box that has the Stitch Fix logo printed on the inside. It's a small detail, but details matter.  It's just another added level of customer service - by making a pretty presentation.  Or is it just me?  Could be, but I do pay attention to those types of things.

Stitch Fix - a Primer

I have had a couple of people ask me, "What exactly IS Stitch Fix?"  In case you are one of the people that haven't heard of this fan-tab-u-lous service, I am here to provide you with an education. If you have heard of it, move along, nothing to see here!  ;)

Stitch Fix is a women's style subscription service. In essence, you fill out a fairly detailed style profile about your sizes, likes, dislikes, and a ballpark amount you would be comfortable spending on each type of item. You then set up the frequency of shipments from several options (or you can even set it up to come only when you physically go in and request a box!)  You are charged a $20 styling fee per box (5 items per box) which you can apply to any items you purchase. The downside is that if you don't like anything, you do not get your $20 back.   If you actually keep all 5 pieces, you get a 25% discount!

Hooray for first blog posts!

My name is Kari and I have been in a 42 year love/hate relationship with myself. Most days, I love myself, but there are just some days when I wonder how I make it through the day without someone tying my shoes for me. Or making sure I don't electrocute myself... Or something.  It sounds pretty harsh, but it's not - really. Just keep reading along and you just may agree with me at some point. Maybe not today, but eventually, you will.  I am doofus, trust me.

The catalyst for my starting this blog came about the other day when I decided to try out Stitch Fix. I needed a place to store all the photos and thoughts on the pieces being sent to me so that my stylist could find them.  This way, as a team, my stylist and I might actually get my shoes tied.   What better place than my very own blog, right? Blogs are fun!  At least that is what I've convinced myself into believing.   We shall see...  Anyway, I digress.
