Stitch Fix Box #5 - December 2015

It's time for another Stitch Fix box! Per usual, if you aren't familiar with Stitch Fix, check out my Stitch Fix Primer post. If you have visited my bog in the past you might notice a change.  So, I'll just get this out of the way up front.

I love it.  It's very different from what I usually do with my hair. The color didn't do what I expected, but that is okay.  This way is a lot more subtle.  :)  Now that we have that out of the way, let us dive into why we are really here...  the Fix!

This fix my only real requests were sweaters and the Papermoon Kallan dress.  I got sweaters, but not the dress.  I thought it would be perfect for my work holiday party, but I guess it wasn't in stock.  I am disappointed, but I'll keep trying for it in later fixes.

I'm telling you guys, Jen is kick ass.  This is my fourth fix with her as my stylist.  The first three fixes were 13/15.  One of the two pieces I didn't like was something I asked for (dolman) and when I got it realized that it just didn't work for me.  So technically, she has only missed on ONE piece.  Jen, girlfriend, you ROCK!!  Thank you for your personal notes and thank you for taking the time to actually look at my Pinterest and read my blog.  You do a GREAT job and I most definitely appreciate you!

Skies are Blue Ferris Mixed Material Collar Top

Yes, that is a cat tail.  He would NOT go away.  So...the Ferris.  I love it. It has a very subtle pattern that you really have to look for to see. The sleeves and back are super soft, much like the sleeves and back on the Market and Spruce Bernadette raglan I got last fix.  It has long sleeves,  but also has tabs for when you want to roll them up to 3/4 sleeves.  It's a similar cut to the 41Hawthorn popover or the Colibri, but a much nicer material.  (read: not that polyester that 41Hawthron leans towards.)  It's a keeper - I've already worn it and as you will soon see, I have several ideas for it in the future.  :)

41 Hawthorn Jordanne A-line Plaid Skirt

Yes, that is the Ferris top.  I apologize that I didn't do more with this skirt, but by the time I got here, I was just plain tired of clothes.  (I struggled with a couple of the other pieces so wound up changing outfits SEVERAL times.) But I digress...  The Jordanne. It's super soft. It's a cute plaid.  It doesn't come across well in the photos, but it's actually grey, navy, white and brown plaid. I can see this with several pairs of tights that I already own as well as several blouses AND cardigans!  I know A-lines are flattering for pretty much all body types, but I will be a little limited with this skirt because of the way it fits. It clings to my belly in just the wrong place so certain tops won't work. Regardless of those limitations, it is also a keeper!

Margaret M Emer Houndstooth Straight Leg Pant

I will preface this with this:  I love how the Emers look on me.  I have two other pairs that are super flattering to my shape.  They are really very comfortable EXCEPT that the waist slips down all the time.  It even rolls down.  It is so dang annoying.  I can't size down because the rest of the pant won't fit right.  Grrr.  Now this particular pair is almost identical to my black houndstooth except for, of course, the addition of burgundy.  I know why Jen sent these.  I have other pairs of Emers pinned and the pair she sent could easily be confused with the second photo. Had she sent those, it would have been no question, I would have kept them.  But she didn't.  I do really like the ones she did send, but I'm going to hold out for non-houndtooth burgundy ones.  :)

Brixon Ivy Darla Lace Asymmetric Hem Sweater

This is one of the pieces that I struggled with. I really like the idea of this sweater. It's a unique concept but it just doesn't work for me.  It just didn't fit right. It was snug in the hip area, but sorta baggy every where else.  It felt sloppy and ill fitting on me.  I tried it on with SO many different bottoms and I just couldn't find anything that I liked it with.  The hem created a "v" right above my lady parts that I felt drew the eye there as well and, well, just no.

RD Style Drake Cowl Neck Pullover Sweater

Another one I struggled with.  I like the details of this sweater. It comes across as a mixed material cable knit.  It, too, feels a little big, but I wouldn't be comfortable sizing down because I feel it would be too clingy across my midsection. The color is a cross between dark grey and brown so it's very neutral. The cowl neck is so frustrating. I'm not sure why, but I always have trouble with cowl neck sweaters. Maybe it's the lack of boobs, but cowls never seem to hang right.  This one is better than most but I am still on the fence.  Maybe it's just sweaters in general because I can't think of a single sweater that I genuinely like except one and it's more of a sweater dress/tunic than a true sweater. Anyway, I might actually keep this one, because there is more about it that I do like than I don't like.  I'll have to think on it some more.

Another month is in the books.  This is likely my last Fix for a little while.   I just got a new car and our payments went up a little bit. That coupled with paying a mortgage, rent on an apartment and the holidays, it's time to go in to "save mode" for a couple of months - at least until we decide what to do with the house.

    1. Thanks! It's super, super soft - sorta like the inside of a brand new sweatshirt. I can't wait to wear it!
