Stitch Fix Box #2 - September 2015

Do you know what Snoopy dancing signifies?  My second try at getting some phat lewts from a Stitch Fix box is here!  YAY! The day the box shipped, I peeked.  I couldn't help it.  I was so excited; I wanted to know what was coming.  I have been bouncing off the walls since. Based solely on what I could tell from just the names of the pieces included in the box, I had very high hopes!  Firstly, there was one garment that I couldn't find a whole lot of info on - which is sort of exciting.  That means that it hasn't been sent out all over the blogosphere yet. Secondly, two pieces could come in several different colors so even though I knew what kind of clothing was coming, there was still an element of surprise in that I had no idea what color I would get!  The other two pieces were items that I had pinned on my SF Pinterest board.  All 5 items fit exactly what I had asked for!!  That, in and of itself, is pretty significant being that this is only my second Fix!  The potential for a 5 out of 5 box was real!!  Was it a home run?!  Find out after the jump!!

Before we get to the clothing, I just have to ask:  What is with the picture poses, bloggers?  I have done a ton of internet research on the various styles that Stitch Fix offers. While the clothing varies, the poses bloggers use, do not.  The hair grab.  The gaze at the ground.  The look to the left (or right) like there is some person over there commanding your attention.  There are like 5 poses that it seems are the "accepted" blogger poses.  Let us be real here.  This is NOT modeling (no, it isn't, not really!) and honestly, even if it was, every blogger using the same 4-5 poses removes any real artistry from the process.  Be natural! Be silly!  Be REAL. No one stares wistfully at a blade of grass while contemplating the meaning of the universe while trying to decide if this particular dolman or cardigan will end hunger or cure cancer. Or maybe they do...  what do I know?  ;)  I CAN tell you that the blogs that will get repeat visits from me are the ones that have people posting fun photos with photo bombs from the family dog.  Or the photos of frustration because something doesn't quite look the way they want it to look.  Y'know?

On to the photos, because everyone knows that is the only reason anyone has read this far anyway....

Style Cards and note from Stylist

My Stylist this time was Jen.  I think Jen and I may have a long, prosperous friendship!  Her note read:

Hi Kari!  I hope you are enjoying this last bit of summer!  Happy Fix day! I took a look at your Pinterest board and I think I found five great pieces that are close to your personal style.  I saw your request for cords and thought you might like the Kut from the Kloth Jonathon corduroy. They're a very flattering cut and perfect for fall!  Dress them up with a great blouse like the 41 Hawthorn Moni blouse - I noticed this one on your Pinterest board!  The Donna Morgan Tila dress is perfect for fall when layered with tights and boots.  On especially cooler days, it would look great with the Pixley Martina cardigan.  I'm sorry I couldn't snag the exact cardigan you wanted, but I thought this would be a fantastic layering piece for autumn.  I hope you enjoy and please let me know any feedback you have so we can make your next Fix even better! xo, Jen

It is very obvious that Jen took my feedback and looked at my pins.  Every piece she sent was either pinned, or was very, very similar to something that I pinned.  I submitted a list of basic pieces that I need and she sent several of my requests!

Adrianna Circle Bib Necklace

I originally saw this necklace in mixed metals (gold, silver and bronze) which I thought was really cute.  I pinned it, not realizing that my style profile was marked that I prefer silver. When I opened the box, at first I was disappointed, but after trying it on, I actually love it in plain silver.   I think it is a great accent piece for my wardrobe. Plus, I adore circles.  I actually recently figured that out while perusing my style profile and various pins I had added.  Lots of dots, circles and round designs/prints.

Kut from the Kloth Jonathon Cords in Charcoal

The cords... Where do I even begin? They are so, so soft.  These are NOT the cords that I was embarrassed to wear back in the 70's. Those were horrific.  These are beautiful.  The cut really is flattering.  The length is perfect. They are actually a bit loose on me so I emailed customer service to see if they had them in a size 2 instead.  Even if they do not, I will still keep them.  I know that cords shrink as much as they get baggy from wear, so either size would be acceptable.  The color is perfect for autumn. It's almost a kohl color, if you know what I mean. Since they are skinnies, I can easily wear them into the winter as they will still fit under my snow boots once that evil white stuff begins falling from the sky.  Obviously, they are a keeper! They even look cute the with cardigan that came in the box. (Pic below)

Pixley Martina Slub Knit Cardigan in Burgundy

Super soft, completely fun!  Pockets! Burgundy! Who doesn't love a great cardigan?! Dress it up, dress it down! This one will get tons of wear, I am positive.  I mean, how could I not wear it all the time, right?  It matches my patent snake print booties from Kate Spade!!  (pic with the jeans, it's hard to tell, but they are burgundy!)  The drape of this cardigan is an interesting detail.  I am concerned about wrinkling but I think as long as it doesn't get balled up and tossed in a laundry basket, it should be fine.  (What?!  Don't act like you don't do it!  You know laundry doesn't get put away as soon as it is done! Puh-lease!) Anyway, this is one of those garments that I will likely wear until it's falling to pieces.  Probably even after that as well! ;)

41Hawthorn Moni Print Blouse and Cami

The photos don't do this justice.  It looks really cute on. The blouse is very sheer, which is why they include a cami as well. It's almost the same cut as the green 41Hawthorn blouse I got in my first box, but in this case, it is actually flattering. I think that is because it is much sheerer than the other one was and it doesn't have all that silly quilting that made the hem puffy and weirdly hanging. I can see this being a go-to on Fridays or weekends. It would look super cute with a pair of white pants or shorts. I'll let you know as soon as I replace the white pants that bit the dust yesterday. (zipper broke, boo!) I really like it with the ballerina flats. You can't tell from the photo, but they are tweedy and have flecks of orange in them. The bronze color of the studs on the blouse pairs well with the brown and beige on the shoes.  I have a light khaki pencil skirt that I bet it would look really cute with as well.

Donna Morgan - Tila

This is the piece de resistance!!  This dress.  Oy!  I. Can't. Even.  Dresses are hard. Almost as hard as jeans. Maybe not for you, but they are for me.  I am on the smaller end of the tata spectrum and that makes finding flattering dresses a little more difficult  for me than it would be for my better endowed sisters. This dress works. It's a thicker material. It's soft. It's not super clingy (because clingy is bad for middle aged bellies!) The print is fun!  (CIRCLES!) The belting hits at the right spot and lets me define my waist, because as I explained in this post definition is something I do not have.  The color is great, I happen to have a navy cardigan that I can toss over it when I get chilly in the office.  (Also, I just bought a cute pair of navy flats for 65% off at Macy's last week!) The 3/4 sleeves aren't too tight and I love the solid band around them and the bottom hem.  It breaks up the pattern a bit and gives the whole dress a more polished look.  This dress is love!

THIS is what a happy Stitch Fix customer looks like!  It's my second box, and sure enough, it's my first 5/5!  That is right!  I am keeping it all and getting the 25% discount!  Happy early birthday to me!!  I promise you this:  going forward, I will be requesting that Jen be my stylist for every box I get.  I made it easy for her, by giving detailed feedback on what kinds of pieces I needed, and by creating a Pinterest board that reflects the styles I like, but that woman pegged EXACTLY the types of clothes I would want!  If you are interested in trying out Stitch Fix I would love you forever if you would use the links that I provide in this blog.  They are referral links and when you order your first box, Stitch Fix will credit my account $25 as a thank you for giving them free advertising.  It doesn't cost you anything extra and once you establish an account, you will also get a referral link to share with your friends!   xoxo

  2. Do you mind saying how much everything cost? I am super hard to fit and hate shopping for clothes but I'm also cheap.
